The Adams County Reads One Book Committee seeks members who wish to promote community reading and community engagement by selecting one title for the Adams County community to read during the month of October. Specifically, committee members love reading, and love reading on a variety of topics and genres. The One Book selection process is a two year process - the first year, committee members read and discuss 40-50 books and evaluate each book on the strength of discussable topics; on programming opportunities from the topics; and the overall appeal to a wide readership. The second year, a subcommittee focuses on programming opportunities, connecting with local and regional scholars on topics that correlate with the book. The committee meets the second Thursday at 2pm of most months, currently virtually.
