Staying Healthy in the Winter
Wednesday, December 4
6PM
Winter is nature's resting season. Some aspects of nature may look dead; however, it is not. Nature is storing its potential deep in the earth and the roots of vegetation. Life does not stop during the winter months. Remember that the bulbs that are in the ground are not dead, and the seeds that fell to the ground from the trees/plants are still alive. They are storing up their energy and preparing to burst forth during the growth period of Spring. In a similar way, by resting, you store up your energy for spring. Some of the gifts of winter include strengthening of reserves, wisdom, stillness, and reassurance. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the Kidneys and the Bladder are associated with the season of winter. These two organs work together to perform many important energetic functions vital to your health. If the energy of the Kidneys and Bladder are not balanced, you may experience urination issues, chronic low back pain, bone and teeth issues, tinnitus/hearing issues, infertility/sexual issues, and/or premature loss of head hair. If you are interested in learning how your body works from a TCM perspective; if you are interested in learning safe and natural ways to follow and use the energy of Winter to stay healthy, then this class is for you. Renee Lehman, MS, PT, MAc, Licensed Acupuncturist and Physical Therapist, will present practical self-care practices (including Lifestyle recommendations, Qigong movements, and Eating for Healing) to help you support your body’s energy (Qi).
