Early Pennsylvania Germans who settled in our area had a distinct way of gardening. This presentation by Betty Jakum, Master Gardener for Adam’s County Cooperative Extension, will explain the structure and the purposes of this type of garden. Pictures of the various types of vegetables and plants grown in these types of kitchen gardens will be shared and there will be discussion of how these gardens reflected the unique culture of the early settlers.
