Join us on Thursday, October 3rd, 6:30 p.m. @ Gettysburg Library. Widely known locally as a broadcast meteorologist with WGAL-TV8 in central PA from 2005-2017, Dr. John Scala will present and discuss what we know about the Great White Hurricane and Children's Blizzards of 1888 as an introduction to the field of forensic meteorology.
Dr. Scala is a certified consulting meteorologist preparing expert opinions in criminal and civil litigation on topics ranging from boating and motor vehicle accidents, and personal injury to illumination issues, flooding and storm-related damage. Dr. Scala held a tenure-track appointment at Millersville University of Pennsylvania from 2002-2005 where he also served as the Associate Director of Millersville's Center for Disaster Research and Education. He was employed by The Weather Channel between 1998-2002 as their Meteorology Training Coordinator and first on camera Storm Analyst.
