Carla Christopher grew up taking etiquette lessons in the south before living in gangland Detroit and then heading to college at an Ivy League in Manhattan. A caseworker and educator, Carla did stints as York's Poet Laureate and a national Diversity and Cultural Competency Trainer before becoming a Lutheran Pastor who currently serves as Assistant to the Bishop of Lower Susquehanna (Central PA) and Delaware- Maryland while also pastoring a United Church of Christ Open and Affirming Congregation in York.
Book Title: The One-Stop Diversity Shop; Story of a Black, Jewish, Lesbian Lutheran Pastor-Activist
Book Synopsis:
Intersectionality is a frequent buzzword in conversations about diversity but what does it really feel like to belong everywhere and no place in particular at the same time? Jewish-Romani-English-Spanish-Black lesbian, Carla Christopher, used storytelling to make the world her home and family and uses poetry and preaching to connect our shared history and create collective victory.
