Description

Grant and the Siege of Vicksburg
Thursday, July 25
6PM
At the beginning of 1863, there was not much good news on progress of the Union armies anywhere except “out west”, and those commanded by General US Grant in Tennessee and Mississippi. Using a table map and markers, you have an opportunity to meet General Grant and review the work up and operations of the campaign, helping to denote on the map key strategic points, and follow the evolution of the march across nearly the whole of the state of Mississippi. You will be part of the action, and discussion on what it took for Grant to bring his army into the city of Vicksburg and create the true turning point of the American Civil War.

Kenneth J. Serfass, Gunnery Sgt USMC, retired portrays Ulysses S. Grant. Gunnery Sgt Kenneth J. Serfass is a native of Bethlehem, PA born on June 18th, 1966. A US Marine since 1984, his last unit was the First Marine Division Band during Operation Iraqi Freedom,
retiring in July of 2004 to become a music teacher.
