Description
Join us online via Zoom Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. as Gettysburg College Professor Christopher Fee will present Feel the Burn: Tales and Terror of Dragon-Fire
Dragons have fascinated peoples across the globe since the dawn of time: Sometimes depicted as giant snakes or sea monsters, sometimes as winged serpents, dragons are generally perceived as magical creatures denoting great foresight, hidden wisdom, and occasionally good luck, although they also often represent the epitome of greed and the embodiment of boundless evil. In this multimedia adventure, we will explore the abiding appeal of dragons, from Mesopotamia to Middle Earth, from Sutton Hoo to the Seven Kingdoms, and from Ancient Greece to Gringotts Bank. Along the way, we will examine images and videos showcasing ancient, medieval, and modern visions of dragons & dragon-slayers.
*Registration is required for this virtual program. A link to the Zoom session will be emailed to those registered participants at the close of registration.
