Flipster is our digital magazine resource. It offers an easy, browse-able reading experience. You can browse magazines by category as well as perform searches for specific periodicals. An online newsstand provides a carousel of the most recent issues, as well as a carousel of all issues allowing for quick access to magazines. The table of contents contains links for quick access to articles of interest and hotlinks within magazines are hyperlinked, opening in separate tabs when clicked. In addition, there is an option to zoom in and out for better readability.
We currently subscribe to 52 magazines in Flipster. From “People” to “Outdoor Life” and “Highlights” to “Time” we have carefully selected titles to ensure that there’s something for everyone. Best of all, you don’t need to download any special apps in order to use this service. Back issues of all magazines are available, and you can even print articles when reading on a computer.
Prefer ebooks to digital magazines? We’ve got you covered. The cloudLibrary is the platform we use. And just like Flipster, all you need to access the cloudLibrary is a library card. Download the cloudLibrary app, use your library card number and pin to sign in, and you’re set to start reading. There are over 9,000 titles in the cloudLibrary, which includes best sellers, old favorites, and undiscovered gems. We add new titles to the cloudLibrary every Friday. You can have a total of 10 ebooks checked out at a time, and just like regular books, place holds on titles that you’re interested in reading. Just like with Flipster, we try to purchase a variety of titles so that there’s something new for everyone.
Freegal is our music service. With Freegal, you can download five songs every week (keeping them forever!) and stream music for three hours a day. Freegal offers the entire Sony Music Catalog as well as some 28,000 other music labels, so there are millions of songs and thousands of artists for you to choose from. Just like Flipster and the cloudLibrary, you log into Freegal using your library card and pin number.
Still not sure how to use these programs? Need a little help downloading the necessary app? Our “Brain-e Bar” service is here for you. Just call your local branch, set up an appointment, and one of our trained staff members will be happy to sit down with you, one-on-one, and answer your questions. You bring your device; we’ll bring our brains, and help you find the answers you need.
