If you are looking for something to do in the air conditioning on these hot summer days, check out the DVD collection at any of the six branches of the Adams County Library System.  We have many new releases, classics, TV shows, and non-fiction documentaries to choose from. The best part is that they are free to borrow with your library card!
Recent biographies that have been added to the system include “Diana at Sixty” which looks at Lady Diana’s life, loves, and where she might be today.  “Bill Traylor: Chasing Ghosts” explores the life of a unique American artist who made well over a thousand drawings and paintings which reflect the social and political change he experienced during his life spanning slavery, Reconstruction, Jim Crow laws and the Great Migration. “American Experience: American Oz” tells the story of author L. Frank Baum and the making of his classic novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
PBS has several new science and nature programs including “Nature: The Leopard Legacy” which tells the story of a powerful leopardess and her cubs in Zambia’s Luangwa River territory.  “Reef Rescue” explains how scientists from around the globe are rushing to help corals adapt to changing climate through assisted evolution.  “Life at the Waterhole” shows how vital waterholes are to the African ecosystem as its wildlife faces the growing impact of climate change.  From the Nova series on PBS, “Fighting for Fertility” explores barriers to fertility, from the social to the biological, and the state of assisted reproductive technologies.
New movies from the Hallmark Channel include “It Was Always You,” “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” “Chasing Waterfalls,” and if you want to celebrate Christmas in July, watch “Christmas in Evergreen : Bells are Ringing.”
Television shows with new seasons on DVD are “American Gods,” “The Brokenwood Mysteries,” “Gangs of London,” “Keeping Faith,” “No Activity,” “Playing for Keeps,” “Shameless,” “The Spanish Princess,” “Star Trek Discovery,” “Unforgotten,” and “The Unicorn.”
As the movie industry gets back into full swing, don’t miss these great feature films:
“Mortal Kombat,” “Wrath of Man (Jason Statham),” “Dream Horse,” “Spiral (Chris Rock),” “Here Today (Billy Crystal),” and “Those Who Wish Me Dead (Angelina Jolie).”
    Have a great summer!
