It's that time of the year to say goodbye to cold weather and snow!  Now, we can eagerly anticipate the beauty of spring and summer.  The Friends of the Gettysburg Library have been awaiting the warm weather and working diligently over the past few months in preparation for upcoming popular book sale events.  The mission of the Friends, a non-profit organization, is to raise money to support our wonderful Adams County Library System with book sales being our biggest fundraisers.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 24th, when the Friends will host the "Spring Fever Garage Book Sale" from 8am to 2pm.  The types of books being offered will focus on hot topics for spring, including Gardening, Home Improvement, Cooking, Children, Nature, Wildlife, Pets and a "Last Chance" table. All of the books are donated by our generous community members and sold at bargain prices. Everyone is invited to join the fun at the garage in the Gettysburg Library located at 140 Baltimore Street.

This year the Friends will again be participating in the "Gettysburg Annual Outdoor Antique Show” on Saturday, May 15th from 8am to 2pm on the Library’s front steps at 140 Baltimore Street.  This has been a very successful event in the past for the community, as well as the Library.  If you like antique books, this is a fabulous event you won't want to miss.  A variety of antique books on many topics will be available.  All books are free; however, cash donations are appreciated!

Save the dates for our "Annual Summer Book Sale" scheduled for July 28th through the 31st at the Redding Auction House located at 1085 Table Rock Road in Gettysburg.  There will be great deals on approximately 20,000 books.  Some areas of interest are: Children's books, US. and World History, Biographies, Self-help, Travel, Languages, Art, Music, DVDs, Romance Novels, Mysteries, Science Fiction, and much, much more.  If you need some refreshments before and/or after searching for that special book for yourself, family or friends, the Friends of the New Oxford Library will have food trucks there ready and waiting to serve you.

Just a reminder, the Friends Book Store, located on the first floor of the Gettysburg Library is open daily to the public for the purchase of quality used books at super low prices.  For regular visitors, you will be surprised at all the changes in the Book Store! Be sure to stop by while you're at the library.

If you are not a member of the Friends, we would be honored to have you join our non-profit group.  Membership fees and other donations provide financial support for the Adams County Library System. Volunteers are always needed and welcome! Additional information about Friends is available at book sale events, at the Library and on the Adams County Library System Website.  Using the drop down menu, click on “Support the Library” and you will see information about the Friends. You can even join online!
