Did someone special in your life give you a new tablet, phone, or other electronic device for the Holidays? Are you screaming “Now What?” in frustration every time you try to use it? Did the name of the play store change on you from your last device? Are you ready to throw the device against the wall in anger for something that should be so helpful? Well before pitching it against the wall in frustration, let me explain how the Adams County Library can help you with your troubles and some exciting apps that you can take a part of using with your new electronic devices.
We have staff members ready and eager to help you with your electronic devices in each of our 6 branches. Staff will attempt to answer any questions that you may have. Some of the things we can do is offer help on using the device, receiving email, browsing the internet on your device, and how to use the Play Store to download your favorite apps. Library staff is also very skilled in showing you how to use your favorite library apps like Cloudlibrary, Freegal, and Flipster. More on these library apps in a moment.
If you find yourself in the position of potentially wanting to throw your newly gifted device against the wall, take a deep breath, lower your device back to lap level, and call the Library!  Library staff can help you any time you are in, but we also offer One-On-One tech help. Call your local Adams County Library branch today and ask for a 30 minute One-On-One tech help session. This allows us to make sure staff members are available to help you with your specific needs. It will be an uninterrupted 30 minutes of help. We do ask that you call ahead for these extended uninterrupted sessions. We are always glad to help and this will also allow you to keep that hole out of your wall with a dead device!
The Adams County Library has some wonderful electronic apps available to us to enjoy at your leisure. These apps are totally free with your library card and allows you to browse well over a million dollars’ worth of books, audiobooks, music, and magazines.  New books and ebooks are added regularly with brand new items. You can browse the Cloudlibrary app for the latest offerings of ebooks and eaudiobooks. If music is more your tune, use our Freegal app to stream or download your favorite tunes. If you prefer digitally flipping through magazines as a way to relax, the library has you covered as well! The app Flipster is available on your device with new and current editions of the magazines available to you at any time. All of these apps are available to you via your library card number. You can always apply for your library card on our library website. To register for a library card or for more information about our eresources, please visit our website, www.adamslibrary.org. The entire staff of the Adams County Library wish you a happy and healthy 2021!
