If you are not aware, the Adams County Library System has taken some steps in the reopening process. You can put items on hold through our website (www.adamslibrary.org). When they arrive, we will contact you and set up an appointment time for you to pick up your requested library materials at your local branch. We are also open by appointment for computer use, printing, faxing, and copying. All library items can be returned in our exterior book returns. Unfortunately, we are not accepting book donations at this time.
This is a great time to explore the library system’s digital branch! Our cloudLibrary app has a great selection of ebooks and eaudiobooks to read or listen to, you can stream or download music using our Freegal Music database, and you can read your favorite magazines on your computer or mobile device using Flipster.
Also, available on our website are many great informational databases that you can use for free! One of my favorites is the CIA World Factbook. Since we can’t physically travel much these days, this is one way to virtually travel. This database has up-to-date sections on world travel facts, one page country summaries, regional and world maps, flags of the world, and a guide to country comparisons. If you are writing a report for school or plan to travel (someday) to one of the 267 world entities listed in this database, it’s worth checking it out. You will certainly learn something new!
Our digital branch can be accessed from our website by using your library card. If you don’t have a card, you can apply for one online. The link is located under the “services” tab. Your new barcode will be emailed to you, with a physical card to be mailed shortly thereafter.
The Carroll Valley Library is located at 5685 Fairfield Road. Our phone number is 717-642-6009. Our hours of operation (at the moment by appointment only) are: Monday and Thursday 2:00pm – 8:00pm; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 11:00am – 5:00pm; and Saturday 10:00am – 4:00pm. Hopefully we’ll see everyone soon. Until then, take care of each other, stay healthy, and keep reading!
