It’s an extraordinary Tuesday!
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s #GivingTuesday will take place on November 27th and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back.
Founded in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y – a community and cultural center in New York City − #GivingTuesday inspired millions of people to give back and support the causes they believe in. Over $300 million was raised online to benefit a tremendously broad range of organizations, and much more was given in volunteer hours, donations of food and clothing, and acts of kindness.
“We are incredibly inspired by the way the #GivingTuesday community has embraced this concept for a worldwide movement,” said Henry Timms, founder of #GivingTuesday and Executive Director of 92Y. “As we prepare for November 27, we’re energized and encouraged by the community’s generosity. The levels of creativity, effort and the quality of the new ideas people have contributed and shared are phenomenal.”
Help Us to Expand the cloudLibrary on #GivingTuesday!
The Adams County Library System’s #GivingTuesday Goal is to raise $1,510 to expand our cloudLibrary collection by adding 10 eBooks and 10 eAudiobooks. The average price for an eBook is $81 and unlike physical books, we only have access to them for a limited time. eAudiobooks typically cost $70. Will you help the ACLS by donating $30 during the 24 hours of #GivingTuesday on November 27th to help us purchase 10 e-books and 10 audio books?
We’re Your Gateway for Exploration, 24/7!
Our Digital Library acts as the seventh branch of the Adams County Library System and allows you to access books, music, recipes, magazines, maps, genealogical or science reference material, newspapers, or a tool to learn a foreign language 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We’re here for you and your family!
Beyond #GivingTuesday: Help Us “Raise the Roof” for the Gettysburg Library
The Gettysburg Library is located in an iconic building built in 1914. An average of 500 people pass through its doors each day to use computers, do genealogical research, attend programs, use the community meeting rooms, study, and explore the collection of books and other resources. Unfortunately, we have sprung not one, but four leaks in our roof. It is an unbudgeted expense of approximately $34,000. Will you please consider giving towards the purchase of a new roof?
Every Dollar Helps
Your gift of any amount, which is tax deductible, will make a difference in the life of an Adams County resident.
