Attention all amateur chefs and Guy Fieri/Rachael Ray wannabees! The Carroll Valley and Harbaugh-Thomas Libraries have a great program you may be interested in. It’s called the Cookbook Club. This is a monthly program that celebrates your love of cookbooks and cooking. Each meeting is centered around a different country or theme. Similar to a potluck dinner, participants will make a related recipe and bring it to the library to share. It’s a lot of fun trying different foods and getting new recipe ideas! The Harbaugh-Thomas Library holds their meetings on the second Thursday of every month at 6:00pm. The Carroll Valley Library’s meeting is on the fourth Thursday of every month at 6:30pm.
If you need a recipe for one of our programs, the library has the perfect solution! One of our electronic resources is A to Z World Food. This database contains traditional recipes for 174 countries of the world in all course categories: appetizers, soups, salads, breads, main courses, side dishes, desserts, and beverages. To access this database, visit our website at www.adamslibrary.org, click on elibrary, and then databases.
On Monday, April 29th at 6:30pm, the Carroll Valley library will be hosting a program titled Gardening with Herbs. Local garden enthusiast Kathleen Green will talk about herb gardening focusing on topics such as site selection, care, harvest and the many benefits of growing herbs. Kathleen is a Penn State Master Gardener fascinated with the powerful benefits of these extremely useful plants. This will be a small group program and discussion among the group is invited. Handouts, a few plant examples and a short demo on propagation will be provided. There are only a few openings left for this program. If you are interested, please call 717-642-6009.
Preschool story time at the Carroll Valley Library will continue through the spring and summer on Tuesday mornings at 10:00am. Join us for stories, songs, and crafts with Miss Crystal. Bring your toddler and enjoy a morning at the library!
Don’t miss baby storytime on Wednesday mornings at 10:00am. Babies and their parent or caregiver will sing songs, do fingerplays, read books, and have playtime. It’s a great way to introduce your little one to the library!
Danny the therapy dog visits the Carroll Valley Library the first Monday of every month at 6:30pm. Reading to a therapy dog helps to build confidence in new or reluctant readers. So, bring your child to the library to read to Danny. He is an excellent listener! All readers will also receive one of our Team KPets trading cards featuring our favorite pup!
If you are interested in essential oils, sign up for our class on the second Monday of every month at 6:45pm. The topic on May 13th will be pain management. Please call 717-642-6009 to reserve your spot.
